Founded in 2006, the Arizona Society of Addiction Medicine is the state chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. We exist to elevate the practice of addiction medicine — clinically, ethically, and politically — in every corner of Arizona.

Holly Geyer, MD
Hospital Internal Medicine specialist at Mayo Clinic Arizona with specialty licensure in Addiction Medicine and Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Clinical focus includes safe opioid prescribing at institutional and state levels, addiction screening and treatment in hospitalized patients, and healthcare legislative policy. Active in research, patient advocacy, and enterprise, state, and national-level policy — including work with Mayo Clinic's Opioid Stewardship Program, the Arizona Attorney General's Office, the NFL Alumni Association, and the NIDA Clinical Trials Network.

Michael Dekker, DO
Board-certified psychiatrist and addiction psychiatrist practicing at the Arizona Professionals Health Program in Scottsdale, serving licensed professionals navigating substance use, behavioral health, and fitness-for-duty concerns. Trained through Nova Southeastern University's College of Osteopathic Medicine, a general psychiatry residency at Banner Good Samaritan (Phoenix), and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Boston University. Previously served combat veterans in the Southern Arizona VA's Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP), and co-founded the Health Professional Students for Substance Abuse Training (HPS-SAT) with Dr. David Lewis of Brown University.

Allison J. Huff, DHEd
Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine (Research Scholar Track) at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. A convergence scientist whose research focuses on the intersection of chronic pain, substance use disorder, and personalized, trauma-informed interventions. Uses interdisciplinary, mixed-methods approaches to develop behavioral health and primary care workforce capacity and improve outcomes for underserved populations. Howard Brain Science Foundation Fellow (2023–present); recipient of the University of Arizona Woman of Impact Award (2022).

Samantha Esquivias, PMHNP-BC
Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner at NOAH – Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health, based at the Desert Mission Health Center in Phoenix. Sees patients ages 6 and up within NOAH's integrated care model, bridging primary care and psychiatry so families can access high-quality behavioral health alongside their whole-person care. Educated at Creighton University (Psychiatric Mental Health) and Grand Canyon University (Family Practice).
